Many years ago, my sister and I took my kids across Canada in her little Vibe. I wanted to make it an educational experience, as well as fun.
My “quote” for the trip was “has anyone noticed that the landscape has changed”. It’s become a family joke.
Well, today, we noticed some distinct landscape changes, as we drove out the shield and headed a bit south out of Duluth, on a detour into the Midwest, then back up north in the the sheild again, then out of the forest into the prairies.

We started our day with a fill up at Costco, we have been surprised with the lack of lineups, like in Canada at Costco gas.
Then west-ish we headed.
The GPS, took us on a weee detour, as the 210 has some major construction. We enjoyed the drive across rural USA.
I noticed how the theme for the day was “farms”
So I searched for the perfect barn.

As we stopped for lunch and driver change on the edge of Brainerd, a sweet park named Lum, on the shores of Rice Lake.

As we drove through town, we was another fun water tower

Leaving Brainerd, we headed over to Fargo. Rick was very motivated to find a chipper, and we were in luck, the Tourist information Center in West Fargo was a gold mine!

Off we headed on our last leg of our journey for the day.

We checked into our hotel, and next door was a great little restaurant, all decked out for Halloween!
