And why traveling is not always fun….
Well, we packed up our BnB, and called for an Uber to take us to the airport,
The Uber driver was funny, he pointed out Porsches, and private planes. And told us that should be what we use on our next trip.
Unlike our Uber driver two days before, who did not speak a word, until we got to our BnB, and I pointed out the landmark, and told him that was our location. His reply “I know” only thing he said the whole trip.
On the other hand, Our Uber drive from the city to our BnB on the Sunday we arrived was amazing. The driving was atrocious, the protest had messed up the roads.. and he was so chatty, and pointed out sights, and told us that our BnB was near a little chapel on the bay, where he got married, and we just HAD to go see it.. (we have not yet)
Our Uber experience when we arrived in Cairns… horrible… we had to pick up our RV by 3 pm… our flight was a bit delayed.. so by the time we had exited the airport, it was 2:15… to be fair, the RV place was a three minute drive.. so totally doable.
I ordered an Uber…. The app said, 1 minute away…. The driver dropped the call… the next driver picked it up… 5 minutes away… he dropped the call… the next picked it up … 10 minutes away… then he dropped it… so we took a taxi… he was great!
Traveling and Uber… generally a great experience. We learn about people, the local area and they are usually very personable. (With some exceptions)
Airplanes… well. We got to the airport, and went to check in for our flight. Well… long story short.. our luggage was over weight… extremely overweight … 20 kg over weight… they charge 20$ a kg for overweight…. Do the math… our cheap flight… was not.
Then, when we get in the plane… the seat are so close to the one in front, I couldn’t sit straight.. Thank goodness the guy in front did not recline.

Three hours later. We arrived in Cairns… stiff and sore. And stumbled out… collected our luggage… and as stated above TRIED to get an UBER.
Planes… definitely the WORST way to travel…

Finally RV’s…
Well. I will admit to being extremely stressed about the RV pick up, I knew the timing were tight… and I did not sleep well the night before.
BUT… once at the RV rental location, it was smooth as silk. The attendant told me one thing I ordered was not required. And gave me a credit.
I will admit, after the stressful flight, and Uber experience. We were not 100% in the right mindset for the information given at the speed of a firehose.
But… within an hour We were driving away, to our holiday park…
That night, we did experience some issues. And headed back to the RV dealer the next morning, they quickly fixed the issues, and we headed on our first official wander in Queensland.
RV… first. Thanks for the tips from Renee & Tracey…

RV is a good way to get around, and the process was seamless and easy. A bit more work than just renting a car, but the team at THL was helpful, and quick to solve issues.

So out of Plane, Ubers and RV’s my fav so far… is the RV… but ask me again in 23 days…-
