Sometimes it’s a good thing when bad things happen

Today was supposed to be our Second bucket list day. Great Barrier Reef.

We got up early, before the alarm rang, and had a cup of coffee and headed to the reception area to catch the 7 am bus to our experience.

At 2 minutes before 7 the receptionist came out and told us that they had emailed us the day before to tell us there was an issue with the boat and the trip was cancelled

😩😩😩😩😩😩

We were able to reschedule for the next day. (Sunday… so no church tomorrow)

We went back to our camper, and regrouped.

We had to re-stock on a few supplies, so we decided to go out and wander north and find a grocery store and bottle shop on the way back (which we did!)

It was a predicted to be a rainy day. Turns out that is “merely a suggestion” it turned out to be a beautiful day!

We headed north again, passed Palm Cove and towards Daintree Rain forest.

Our first stop was Ellis beach.

Just outside of Ellis Beach

Looking south
Surf
Dipped my toes.

From Ellis we continued to wander…

Driving the Great Barrier Reef highway
More stunning views
Heading inland a bit
Mossman gorge, the edge of Daintree
The town of Mossman
The rain did not fall, but made for amazing skies!

We then stopped at Wonga Beach for lunch

My coconut friend… I called him “Wilson”
Our spot, watching the tide roll in
More lovely palms

We then headed west, and inland, to the Tablelands…

My version
They do controlled burns to reduce wild fires. Check out the termite hill.. there were thousands of all different sizes!

We then headed back to Cairns for our “now ritual” swim in the pool and meet the neighbours. Dinner, drinks and bed, ready to the next days adventure

If there is one thing that Rick and Gillian do it’s roll with what ever is sent our way when we travel.

Today was a good day….
