Sailing away, on a riverboat fantasy

Yesterday was another reset day.

We turned in the RV, and moved into a lovely Suites Hotel in downtown Sydney for four nights.

Bat Duck approved.

Laundry was done. Re-stocking of liquids and food. We were re-acquainted to big city living, and shopping in a mall, at Christmas, in a downtown core.

Did we ever tell you how much we love living in a small community. Ack! We were exhausted from the half hour shopping excursion, and navigating around all the people!!!

A quiet night in. Enjoying the cityscape as it went to sleep.

The sun setting from our 37th floor suite.

This morning, we awoke refreshed and ready for fun.

Clair had suggested taking the Parramatta Cat. A ferry that goes from Sydney Circular Quay, all the way to Parramatta, an hour and 15 minute ride.

So we headed out, the first stop after circular quay, is Darling Harbour, a 15 minute walk from our hotel. So off we trekked.

We wandered down the Wharf, and found out that on weekends, the public transport fair has a cap of $9. Travel anywhere, any Mode, ferry, Tram, train, metro or bus. Cool!

We boarded the Parramatta Cat: Dawn Fraser, and headed up the river. stopping at the various wharfs along the way, picking up and dropping passengers. Ranging from Tourists to School girls, and school boys heading out fishing.

Leaving the wharf
Had to take a picture of this wharf.
Some interesting sights…
Some small estates (to be fair, this is now a hospital, and school)
More bridges
Some funny critters

Then we turned around, and took the return trip. With different views.

We stopped at Cockatoo Island, a former secondary penal facility, then it was an orphanage, then finally a ship building yard.

We then boarded another ferry, the Charlotte, and headed towards the main Pier, Circular Quay.

Once we arrived, we quickly found a lovely seafood restaurant, with table service!!! Yeah!

The Searock grill!

Then we headed over to the Opera house, for a bit of Recon. for the big event tomorrow.

Just love the old infrastructure, juxtaposed with the Modern
Does it get more iconic than this?
