Where the wild things are.

The last two days were exploring the wilder side of Tassie. Kinda.

We left Launceston, and headed to our last stop in Tassie, Devonport.

The landscape still is awesome!

As usual, we turned whenever the road seemed interesting.

First stop… Batman Bridge.

Bat duck approved
The bridge

From there we continued along the coast, up to someplace called Beauty Point.. because… well, the name just called us.

Along the way, we saw a sign… and reset the GPS…as this we could not miss

Platypus!
Echidna!

How could we not! Lucky for us. We were able to get on a tour. (The kids are off for summer holidays, so parents are looking for things to keep them busy)

Our first stop was the information room, where we learned a lot about Monotremes

Their insides are like a bird, their Skeletons are like a reptile, but they are a mammal. Although, they don’t have a pouch, they make one for their egg. Then for the baby.. How cool it that???

We then headed over to meet the first Platypus.

This is Jupiter, the Male Platypus
This is Pumpkin, one of the females
This is Jupiter, looking for Dawn, his girlfriend who is hiding back there …
Eating… yummy worms

We then headed into the Echidna area… I have to say, I think I have fallen in Love!! Ok Hedgehogs have always been a favourite of mine… but these guys are so cute.

They have no boundaries, and are not territorial.

This is the Puggle, the baby… he kept going under people’s legs… to get behind them

I love that the babies are called Puggles…. And a group of Puggles is called a Puddle!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

He was bored… and was heading to the door to see when the next tour was going to come.

We then continued on to Devonport, to check in, and explore the town.

A lovely little town it is, very walkable… not that we did! Lmao

We headed to the Point, where there were two things of interest.

The Spirit of the Sea Statue, which looks over the harbour

The Spirit of the Sea
Looking back to Devonport
Looking over to Mersey Point

Then we headed to Mersey point

There is a lighthouse!
Which had to be painted’
With even more stunning views!

We then headed back to our hotel for a Christmas Eve dinner

Ok… and drinks! Santa needs his refreshments before getting to work.
