Walkabout: Melbourne Style…

Well, we awoke in Melbourne and headed out for our day’s adventures.

Today we had booked tickets for the Skydeck an 88 floor viewing of the city of Melbourne. The ticket was open time, and they did not open until noon. So we had time to fill.

So we did!

First stop, the Princess Theatre to see if we could get tickets for Tina for tonight . Unfortunately, the box office also does not open until noon.

We crossed the street, and took our “Selfie of the Day” at the Stanford Fountain across the street.

So off to our next adventure… taking the Tram to the other side of the CBD (central business district)

We hopped on, and hopped off two stops later. The lovely thing about Melbourne, the trams are free within the CBD.

The stop was Town Hall… just like in Sydney.. lol
The street, so many American influences. 😦

We wandered over, down and guess what we found!?!

The Anglican Cathedral! St. Pauls.

The cathedral.
From across the steeet
The Close.

Then we went in…

We then headed over to the Sky deck, crossing over the Yarra river

Taken from the Cathedral. The Flinders Train station, and the sky deck behind in gold
The Melbourne skyline from Federation Square
That is the Arts Centre. Odd.. but striking
Princes Bridge
View from the Pedestrian Bridge back to the Princes Bridge. Floating restaurants

We headed over to the Eureka Tower, where the Skydeck is located. But the line was very very long, we we headed back to the Southbank, where everyone seems to just hangout.. and had a beer and cider and people watched.

Looking back at the bridge and Flinders Train station
My version
A Busker, thrilling the kids!

After an hour we headed back to see how the line was doing… not much shortened, so we got in and waited… 45 minutes. (The line got longer as we moved along!)

Waiting in line!
This was on the building.. should I be worried..

Great views!

Up in the tower

We then headed back to our hotel.

But made a quick stop…

And got tickets!
