The rain did not dampen our spirits.

Just our hair.

We awoke to a grey cold rainy day. Although I am not a fan of sleeping on electric blankets. Some days you appreciate the warmth.

We had a slow morning, turned on the heat, and enjoyed a hearty breakfast before hitting the road for our explorations.

We decided to go to Carpenters Rock, in South Australia, and lunch in Port MacDonnell, and stop at what ever we find in between.

Grey skies

First stop, Racecourse Bay. Which is a “sub-bay” of Discovery Bay, and overlooks Port MacDonnell.

Interesting rocks, and a different coast experience from what we saw along the Great Ocean Road.

We then continued along… to Port MacDonnell to do a wee Lunch recon. The first thing was the Penguins.. (see the cover photo) Apparently it’s Breast Cancer month here, and every statue in town had a pink or red Bra… including the soldier at the ANZAC Memorial!

Next stop, Blackfellows Caves. I kid you not!

Guess these are the caves

From there we continued to Carpenter Rocks

Heritage bridge: Lake Bonney Outlet bridge. Did not get the info… it was raining too hard

We continued along the road, and we were a bit worried, the road kept getting smaller and smaller, and the road turned to sand.. we stopped, as we are not supposed to take our rental “off road”. And we don’t think Swifto would enjoy it!

Look closely, there are two ATV’s on The beach
And there was a lighthouse, Cape Banks Lighthouse.

Back in Carpenter Rocks, we stopped, and enjoyed the bays.

The next village over.. just loved the name, did not see any Pelicans today

We then returned to Port MacDonnell for lunch. But… well we decided to turn left instead of Right into town. Along Finger Point Way (I mean why wouldn’t you??) And found two fun things along that way.

Another lighthouse!
A tower

A picture of the “tower” taken from Goggle maps.. as you can see it’s sunny in this pic!

We finally returned to town for lunch, we found a place that advertised Lobster (we did not have it tho, it was $$$$$$$)

The Salt
I had scallops (ate two before taking the pic!)
Rick has Prawns.. we had also eaten two before the pic was taken!

We then headed inland, to Mount Gambier, where the shopping was, as we were low on some critical supplies 🥃

We were surprised, we did not know that Mount Gambier was an old volcano!
