Splunk!

This morning we awoke, chilly again. But again thankful for our electric blanket. The sun was shining… and the cabin was…. Surrounded in poo?????

Apparently the Roos came for a visit en mass last night… and we missed it. We heard the host’s dogs barking… apparently at the Roos. An opportunity missed.

We loaded up Swifto, and headed towards Adelaide.

We entered into South Australia

We passed through miles and miles of wine country…

This was the view for about an hour or so
And prairie

First stop Naracoorte Caves. Shout out to Tracey B who told me about them!

The descent

So worth the 12$ for me, and $10 for Rick!

We then continued on our way, and stopped at a little town called Keith at the Australian Mutual Provident Society Land Development Scheme memorial park for lunch. We did not know this until we read the plaques. We stopped because it had a Land rover on a pole! And the Google Maps reviews were hilarious!

Google maps : Land Rover on a pole

The area affected… all those Vineyard’s we passed!

Who know that the miles and miles of Vineyards used to be desert??! The things you learn if you read the info!

I find it interesting that in the UK, and Australia, they call these projects “schemes”. The Land Scheme, the recycling scheme etc… in North America, a scheme is considered a bad thing. Something the orange guy comes up with… but here, a scheme is a “project”. Usually a good thing. Just one of those cultural differences.
