The mouth of the Mallacoota Inlet

Today we explored the Mallacoota area. We first headed to the centre of town, and the mouth of the Inlet, where the Wallagaraugh and Genoa rivers meet at the Tasman Sea.

The inlet was a hive of activity, surrounded by Caravans, boats and many pelicans!

We then headed to the beach on the other side of the sand bar. (To the right on the above picture) The week of stormy weather made for dramatic waves!

Pair of posers!

We stayed for a while feeling the power, and listening to the waves!

We then continued along the coast, looking for hidden treasures, we come found one… the airport!

That’s all folks!

We then turned around and headed up the river, at the other end of Mallacoota we found a quiet spot, where families were having quiet picnics, and sail boats were resting waiting for their sailers to return.

Just loved this view

We continued back up the river to Gipsy point… a peaceful community tucked on a curve of the river.

Two fishermen were enjoying the jetty…not catching much apparently.

One fisherman came over and chatted, a long time Australia, immigrated as a child from Turkey. He had a thick Turkish accent, but he said, when he goes back they call him a “Bloody Aussie“. I laughed and said, it’s the way you say “Bloody”. He agreed “too right!” Yup, he’s a Aussie!

We then returned to our Bnb for a nap, then a dip in the little plunger pool, and enjoyed the wildlife at Bellbird Retreat
