This makes for interesting names of villages, since Whanga also mean Bay…
So there are many villages that start with an “unexpected” fff sound.and the G is a hard g…pronounced as Faan-gah, which ends up sounding a bit like Faaaakk
We drove to Whangarei… but many times the GPS referred to Whangaruru… this caused many giggles… I travel with a child…
Anyway… the weather again was fall like… meaning rainy…it is early fall here, so not a surprise, or unwelcome. It has been a dry year and everyone is happy to see the rain. We can’t complain, we have been blessed.
We had a long travel day on Tuesday, with much construction and few stellar views.

The weather eased up for a bit and we were able to stop for lunch at a beach.

We arrived in Whangārei Heads, and our pretty Bnb, which had some stellar views.. but no Wifi… hence the delay in posting.

The next day we headed out to see what we could see.
The sky’s were sunny, and we were rewarded with lovely views again

We then headed to the west side, and the Pacific!

It was a lovely beach with surfers, and I dipped my toes.
Unfortunately, the sky’s darkened, and it began to rain… so off we headed.
We headed to the lookout, to look back at where we were.

We headed back to it Airbnb, to finish our laundry, and just relax.
This morning; we headed to our northern stay, in the little community on the KariKari Peninsula, a trendy beach house. With gorgeous outdoor spaces, and more funky decor! I feel like I’m at Piggy’s Cove!
The drive was lovely, we took a wee detour, and headed to Bay of Islands, and the tourist town of Paihia.

We continued to head north.. we passed signs for this place… replace Whanga… with Faan-kah…. Yup… more giggles..

Anyway…the views out on the Peninsula was stunning again. Interesting landscapes again.

We made it to our funky beach house, with Hot-tub! My poor achy body was so happy!
