Cristo!

The day began as usual with a lovely Nicaraguan Breakfast at the hotel. The singers headed out for their practice, and the Non-singers hung out at the hotel. We had all done a lot of exploring the day before, and we were just happy to relax, read, chat, or in my case, paint and blog.

I then decided I needed to head out to the cathedral, as I wanted to sketch the location that Rick has spent the majority of his time.

I found a lovely spot and began to sketch. While sketching a family stopped by, and as luck would have it the mom had been discussing Landscape drawing with her children that morning. I showed them some other pictures. And later they came back with Dad to see how the picture was going.

I also had a local come and ask if I did portraits. ummm no. Not my strength.

The boys gym class from the school came out to the plaza for their PE class, and as 10-12 year olds can be… loud and lots of laughing and shenanigans. I don’t think the teacher was impressed, they ended up doing laps.. in the heat!

The sketch

The singers were still practicing, so I tried to do a mini painting of them singing.. but they finished too soon. Might finish that later

Still practicing.
Work in progress

We then headed down to the beach front to have lunch at a restaurant that everyone was talking about.

The view

Apparently we were too busy enjoying the view, food, and drinks to take pictures.

We then headed back to the hotel for Siesta time.

At 4:00 pm people who were going on the hike up to the Cristo headed out. Remember that tiny painting from the first day, they hiked to the end of beach, then straight up the hill side. Apparently, it was a bit precarious in spots. Crumbly walls, and tiny trail, if that.

We opted for the Taxi. Margarita, who speaks functional Spanish negotiated the price, and 20$ USD. Return trip.

The nice part of the drive

That too was a bit scary! Very steep.

At the top of the drive, there was a long set of steps

Only 1/3 of the way.

The climb was worth it.

When you travel with a Choir everyplace has a sound track!
