Well today was a definite adventure! We started as usual with Breakfast, and we all loaded onto our buses, looking forward to the day to come.

And off we headed, across the countryside, to our first destination of many.

Our first stop of the day was a park overlooking Lake Managua, with stunning views of the Vulcan Momotombo.

We reloaded and headed out again. One quick (not) stop at a lay-by to reorganize the luggage on the bus top into the two hotels groups, and then the one bus with luggage and some people headed into Granada to the hotels, and the other (with us) headed off to the Laguna de Apoyo. The Laguna is in the crater of a dormant volcano. The water is full of minerals and 11 species of fish that are only found here.

The Laguna club is a private resort, with Food, drinks, paddle boards and more. The water was lovely, the food and drinks took a bit of time to arrive (but we had been warned, so ordered first). And we climbed the steps down into the Laguna, and enjoyed the warm water.
The food, not so much. The least said about that, the better.

Once again, we loaded into the busses and headed to the National Vulcan Masaya Park

The park is the largest national park in Nicaragua, and contains a number of volcanos (can’t remember how many).
Our first activity was a climb to the top of one of the volcanos and watch the sun set. Rick opted to stay with the bus… good decision.

We once again loaded onto our bus and headed for the grand finale!
The Magma!
No words really can describe the experience.

One last bus drive, and we arrived in Granada, hot and tired, and hungry. So once settled into our stunning BnB, we headed out into the city for dinner and drinks!
We headed to the Garden Cafe, one of the premiere eateries in the downtown area. (In our tour guides opinion, and we don’t disagree)

And then a short walk home, enjoying the Saturday night activities in the plaza!

We fell into bed, exhausted but exhilarated.
