It’s not a picnic…

Today we had a busy day… as it often seems on a Sunday.

We had a morning guest…Australian King Parrot…debating if he can get in and get Ricks Tim Tams

We began our day with a quick breakfast and headed out for the short walk to the local church, for its 9 am service. Rick had done the research, and found the time on the towns website.

Guess what?

They were wrong. The service was 10 am

All good, next to it was the Shire Office, which had a lovely wrap around porch with shade and a bench.

We spent the time, reading the memorial for the citizens of Nundle who has served. WW1, WW2, Korea and Vietnam.

When one spends an hour at a memorial, you can notice a lot of things. Next time you have time, sit for a while, and be with the town memorial…. It’s a good thing.

The members of the church slowly trickled in, and so we headed over.

A sweet church.

After the service and a cuppa with the parish members, we headed back to our RV along the river walk.

The horse posed for me

Some ducks (more about them later)
The meadow on the other side of the trail

We had a brief reset, and Rachel came and took us for a tour of the iconic Nundle things.

We first headed out of town, and to the Sheba Dams.

The info… built in 3 weeks!

There was a lovely trail around the reservoir, and we had a we hike

The far side from the park.

The park is a favourite spot for locals from the shire, in the summer, to picnic, swim and camp. We could certainly understand why. It was at least 10 degrees cooler here!

The cicadas were deafening. This fellow was on a tree as we brushed by he yelled at us. Then fell. He may have just emerged from his chrysalis, he was a bit slow moving.

From there we headed over to the Hanging Rock.

Enjoying the view
The view we were enjoying… including Bob and Rachel’s house

Looking the other way.

Apparently, there is a well known movie/book in Australia called Picnic at Hanging Rock.

This is not that Hanging Rock.

We then headed over to their house, and were rewarded with a guided tour of the garden. I have to say, I am jealous. I wish I could have a year round garden, with so many fruit trees.

We headed back to our camp site for a wee rest before dinner

A family of ducks joined us
Momma leading the way.

Then we headed back to Rachel and Bob’s for a lovely home cooked meal (thanks Bob!! It was Delicious!!) and a selfie.

Forgot to mention Soldier, poor guy, he had surgery on his lip, and he is no happy about the collar!

We said our farewells, and headed back for a good nights sleep, before we head back Sydney way for our last RV adventure.
