Old churches, and Boat ride…

Well, I decided I needed a reset, a break, what ever you wish to call it yesterday. It was my birthday, so I can do what I want!

So no post, and no sketching.

The day before was a quiet day. (Feb 1) It started with the Choir having a practice in our hotel, and I headed out to find a place to sketch.

But first, I had to pass through the marketo! Insane

The city is full of old churches (as many are here). I did find a lovely church, with a safe(ish) place to sit and settled in to sketch,

I was perched on my stool for about an hour, but a local homeless and slightly unstable woman was slowly making her way towards me, yelling and accosting passerby’s. So I packed up a bit earlier than I would have liked.

But I had a lovely walk back to the hotel. stopping at a shop to pick up some Rum and mix for later.

The choir was still singing

I waited for the singers to finish then practice, and worked (a bit) on my sketch on the roof top patio, with stunning views of the city. Ok, I just read and enjoyed the breeze.

We had a river boat cruise booked for the afternoon, so we all headed over to the other hotel to catch the bus to the port and then to the boat

The boat took us around La Guanábana, a bay of many islands formed by the calapse of side of the volcano we had visited the day before.

We stopped in a Vulcan heated Laguna, for a dip, and slide!

The slide (non me, but I went down)

We then cruised around, enjoying the sun setting over the Volcanos all around us.

Back to harbour, and home.

A few went out for dinner, but Rick and I decided to enjoy the roof top patio, and spend the evening with Rum! (Hence the quiet birthday 😉
